Every where in the news all that we see flashing into our eyes are headlines screaming the killing of one person or another either by herdsmen, boko haram, FSARS (Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad), bandits, husband or wife.
HOW DID WE GET TO THIS POINT?
The value for human life is so low that anything even as cheap as “paraga” (a locally brewed gin) is enough reason to snuff out a life (yes it is that bad).
I believe this is the sole reason a police man who is trained to protect and serve will decide to shoot at a defenceless citizen all in the name of “accidental discharge”.
Or is it the case of physical assault of husband on wife that leads to death. Or the blood thirstiness of bandits who decide to kill just because they wield a gun?
Life used to be far more valuable.
I think a retrace is needed of what we value and hold dear in the society and this has to be done by the media, family units, religious groups and persons of influence because we all have lost it.
